By Troy White Despite what many may tell yousuccessful marketing does not happen overnight. It takes time, testing and a plan. You may be extremely surprised to first learn that some marketing and advertising campaigns are considered a success if they break even. If you spend $500 on the ad placement and you get back $500 in profit, it may be a great success for your business. WHAT? How can breaking even be considered a success? Most business owners never put 3 seconds worth of thought into what the lifetime value of your clients may be. Lifetime value of a client is calculated by adding up the initial purchase (averaged out) of a first time buyer in your business, multiplied by the amount of times in a year they buy from you, multiplied by how many years they stay a loyal client. For example: A hairdresser's average first time client is worth about $25, returns 10 times per year, and on average remains a customer for 3 years. Multiplied out, that makes each and every client worth $750 to the hairdresser. (25x10x3). If you are a hairdresser and look at each new client as being worth $750 to you, what are you willing to do to get more clients? Would you spend $50 to make $750? I would certainly hope so. If not, let me repeat, each and every new client is worth $750 to you. Bring in 10 new clients a week and you are adding $7500 in new business a week. While you earn the money over the next few years, it is money you NEVER would have had. Do the math in your own business, the numbers don't lie. Now, here's the real exciting part. The key to lifetime value is to increase each number by small (or large) amounts. For example: A hairdresser doing it the old way would see a first time client for $25, have them come in 10 times a year, and spend about 3 years as their client. Now a hairdresser doing it the new way would see a first time client for $35 (by adding up-sells and products at the till, and making sure everyone knew about them, an extra $10 at minimum). The hairdresser would then have them come in 10 times per year (or even once a month through consistent reminders and bonuses). And have them spend 3 years as a client (or even 4 years, because if you treat them well enough, they will not leave as quickly) Now look at the numbers, that's $1050-$1680 for every new client! (35x10x3, 35X12X4). By putting a little more effort into getting them back more often, having them buy more while they are there and staying a loyal client longer you have almost doubled what they are going to spend with you! All by paying attention to them and making sure they get the best services and treatment possible. Now, how much will you spend to get a $1680 client for the first time? Do the math and your world will quickly expand as you see the big picture. Now get your pen and paper out and start adding! Internet Dating
By Eddie Tobey Who could have ever imagined that finding a special someone, a date or even a friend could be hard these days? Some people will answer that they do find it hard to meet anyone these day, but it doesnt have to be that way. The Internet is the salvation to those who are in search of that special someone or just a friend. Internet dating was established to give opportunities to those people who want to find a compatible person as quickly as possible. It allows a person to meet people online for possible friendship or romance. This online service will ask you to fill out a personal information data sheet about yourself, then search and match it to people with similar profiles. However, these days people have come to fear online dating because of the numerous frauds and scams that has been reported about. Some websites that promise love and romance have turned out to be prostituting women online. Some sites require you deposit money before you can go any further with their services. These sites exist and are shocking, but the same things can also happen at malls, bars and other crowded places. Constant vigilance as applied to real life should also be applied to online dating. Online dating is an opportunity to meet several new friends and contacts. And for the most part, unlike meeting in person, you have complete control of the situation. Individuals can choose how much information they can give out. They can also say yes or no to the profiles that are presented to them as possible matches, and most importantly, they have the power to choose the right partner for them. If used properly, online dating allows you to meet someone who has the same background, values, beliefs, hobbies and other interest as you. The chances of falling for the person because of his or her personality is a real possibility because you are intimate with the person on an emotional and intellectual level before you the physical attraction enters the picture. True there is usually a picture of you that can be viewed, but you dont have to look like a supermodel or a movie star. If your match accepts you from the onset, your appearance was only one of several reasons why. Internet Dating provides detailed information on Internet Dating, Internet Dating Services, Internet Dating Online, Christian Internet Dating and more. Internet Dating is affiliated with Free Dating Services. Wellness Seeker Solution
By Carl Kuerschner When I first looked out into the abyss of opportunities for the wellness seeker, it seemed like a tad more wearing than shopping at Christmas time. But it made me think: How does anyone come to establish what wellness program, whether it be to lose weight, gain weight, increase their existing healthhow does someone choose from the abundantsometimes saturatedsupply of resources available? Why would someone choose one wellness solution over another(products aside)? I certainly did not want to pay any heed, much less follow up on the web site address I found on a small "lose 10 kilos" paper trail flyer that had been stuck on the back of a public toilet door. You really have to thinkis this person really concerned about my health? Or are they merely trying to hock off products? Well, initially I told myself"They have an over supply of product maybe." Admittedly expressed with a bit of tongue in cheek of course. My concern was also as to how much they would actually know about what they were promoting, because I am now evaluating how much they know about marketing, due to this method of sticking flyers up in public toilets. Hey! I don't mean to disregard their attempts at getting their word out thereit's a contribution that should not be ignored if it is genuine. Ohbutyou see I have this unrelenting internal voice of optimistic wisdom in me that also asked the question: If this person if so dedicated at posting a thumb nail sized promo on the back of a public toilet door, they may perhaps be just as dedicated to helping folk in their search to lose 10 kilos or whatever their wellness goals may be. Perhaps my conclusion on the issue was a bit too premature. After all, there are always two sides to the coin. But for the sake of my studyI chose to stick to just one side. I began to ask the same question about the many opportunities that fill the Internet in regards to wellness. Who is promoting what and how are they doing it differently to the next person? After much research I found I was actually asking the wrong question. I should have asked: What are they providing in order to make people feel confident in their ability to achieve their wellness goals? In asking the new question I wasn't concentrating on the quality of product being endorsed. No. I was more focused on the proprietorthe wellness coachthe health mentor behind the website the nutritional doctor behind the business. I even made a few a phone calls. I am glad I did because the people I spoke to were genuine and very accommodating. Our conversations were void of any sales spiel(relief)and each person I spoke to didn't need to justify the phone conversation by trying to offer any form of business opportunity. Nowthis I am thankful for. Not for fear of getting sucked into something that would cost me time and moneyon the contrary. I may have actually taken them up on their offer. Which would have been a disaster as my hands are full enough already. I did come across one overly (somewhat fictitious in excitement) enthusiastic person who lost interest in our conversation when she established that our discussion no longer focused on her product range. Well, in many ways, fair enough. We all have a business to run. Time is of the essence. Who was I to ring just to get some clarity on my question "Why would someone choose one wellness solution over another(products aside)?" For the most part, everybody seemed to be sharing a common goal. Though there are some, it would seem, who may be dealing with(I will up the stakes here and say definitely)an over supply of product because their cousin Mike convinced them they would make a fortune if they could sell some vitamins online. This is concerning because this type of "get me out of strife" business approach is completely void of the passion the wellness industry sincerely deserves. So what was my conclusion? Wellthose upholding the values of working on sickness preventatives rather than just being involved in business to treat the cause (this includes getting out of financial strife) and doing it with a sincere mindset to help people get control of their health are always going to do exceptionally well. People in search of establishing a solution to their wellness goals will always do well by doing business with the people who mean well. Sure, we must also give a lot of the credit to the products being used to accomplish this. The wellness seeker can establish his or her confidence to achieve their wellness result through a particular product or service by simply questioning the mannerisms in which people operate their business. Word of mouth (or mouse) is the promotional vehicle to work better than any. For the folk in search of their wellness provider, coach, mentor and nutritional visionary: Ask some direct questions in regards to what you are looking for, and the answer will appeareventually. So just use the law of attraction perhaps? Wellwho knows? But "necessity" more often than not finds its guardian. Scrapbooking Made Easy
By Julianne Smith Creating a scrapbook may seem overwhelming to some, however this doesn't have to be the case. Scrapbooking can actually be a fun and rewarding activity. Scrapbooks, like people, come in all shapes and sizes. There is not a right or wrong way to make a scrapbook, so you have the freedom to make one how you wish. Scrapbooking is much easier today, then say ten years ago. There are a multitude of resources to be used when creating a scrapbook. To begin with, the first thing to do is figure out what kind of scrapbook you would like to make, or what is the theme? You can choose to make a scrapbook for your mom, containing pictures of your children. A scrapbook containing pictures of you and your friends over the past year is another idea. You can make a scrapbook of holiday get-togethers, or your baby's first year scrapbook, or a family tree scrapbook containing old photos of past generations. Picking a theme is the first step, and if you don't have a certain theme that's okay too. You may choose just to have a variety of different pictures you like in one scrapbook. Like I said, there is no right or wrong way to make a scrapbook. The second thing you will want to do in creating a scrapbook is choosing the size of scrapbook you would like to make. For example, if making a scrapbook for your mom containing pictures of your kids, you can choose to do a large book, or even a smaller book with only fifteen or twenty photos that she can keep in her purse or tote bag. If this will be a scrapbook that is for you then you can decide if you would like a larger book that will fit in a bookcase, or something smaller that will be placed on your nightstand. The possibilities are endless. You will then choose the pictures and photos you want to include in your scrapbook. Choosing clear photos is very important, you don't want to choose a picture that is too dark or blurry. Your pictures will be showcased in your scrapbook so you will want to choose the best ones. Even if a picture is off center you can always crop it so that the person or object in your photo is centered. Once you decide on the theme of your scrapbook, the size of the book, and the pictures you want to include in your scrapbook then you will want to take a trip to your local craft store and pick up a few items that you will need to create your scrapbook. Items you may want to buy are: colored cardstock, stickers, die-cuts, decorative scissors, glue sticks, and double sided tape. There are numerous other supplies that are available, and you don't have to buy everything at once. Perhaps only buy enough items to do a few pages at a time. You can make your scrapbook as simple or elaborate using the available resources at your craft store. All-in-one scrapbooking packages are even available. These include most everything you need for a themed scrapbook (plain and decorative paper, stickers, die-cuts, labels, etc.). The main idea is to just create a book that will showcase your pictures in a special way. One resource you may want to take advantage of are scrapbooking magazines and books. These have numerous examples of scrapbook pages you can copy or get ideas from. The point is that creating a scrapbook should be fun for you, not a job you feel obligated to do. A scrapbook doesn't have to be created and finished in a short amount of time, don't feel like you have to finish a whole scrapbook in a week or two. Some scrapbooks, especially larger ones, may take months to finish. Once finished you'll have a keepsake for life, and knowing that you made it yourself will make it that much more special. Termination: Have You Suffered Retaliation at Work?
By Ken B Termination is one of the most obvious forms of retaliation at work. Other obvious forms of retaliation include refusal to hire, denial of job benefits, denial of promotion, demotion, and suspension. Other kinds of adverse actions include: threats, reprimands, harassment, negative evaluations, or other adverse treatment of employees. Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, [FN1] the Age Discrimination in Employment Act, [FN2] the Americans with Disabilities Act, [FN3] and the Equal Pay Act [FN4] prohibit retaliation by an employer, employment agency, or labor organization because an individual has engaged in protected activity. [FN5] Protected activity, as defined, consists of the following: (1) opposing a practice made unlawful by one of the federal employment discrimination laws (based on the "opposition" clause); or (2) filing a charge, testifying, assisting, or participating in any manner in an investigation, proceeding, or hearing under the applicable federal law (based on the "participation" clause). [FN1] Section 704(a) of Title VII, 42 U.S.C. 2000e-3(a).
[FN2] Section 4(d) of the ADEA, 29 U.S.C. 623(d).
[FN3] Section 503(a) of the ADA, 42 U.S.C. 12203(a). Section 503 (b) of the ADA, 42 U.S.C. 12203(b), further provides that it is unlawful "to coerce, intimidate, threaten, or interfere with any individual in the exercise or enjoyment of, or on account of his or her having exercised or enjoyed, or on account of his or her having aided or encouraged any other individual in the exercise or enjoyment of, any right granted or protected by this chapter."
[FN4] Section 15(a)(3) of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), 29 U.S.C. 215(a)(3).
[FN5] Federal employees are also protected against retaliation under each of the employment discrimination statutes. See, e.g., Hale v. Marsh, 808 F.2d 616, 619 (7th Cir. 1986) (recognizing retaliation cause of action for federal employees under Title VII); Bornholdt v. Brady, 869 F.2d 57, 62 (2d Cir. 1989) (recognizing retaliation cause of action for federal employees under ADEA). The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) has a policy of ensuring that individuals who (1) oppose unlawful employment discrimination, (2) participate in employment discrimination proceedings, or (3) otherwise assert their rights under the laws enforced by the EEOC are protected against retaliation. Voluntary compliance with the anti-discrimination laws and effective enforcement of those laws depend in large part on two things: (1) on the initiative of individuals to oppose employment practices that they reasonably believe to be unlawful, and (2) to file charges of discrimination. If employer retaliation for employees' oppositional or participatory activities were permitted to go un-remedied, it would have a chilling effect upon the willingness of individuals to speak out against employment discrimination or to participate in the Commission's (EEOC's) administrative process or in other employment discrimination proceedings. Retaliation claims are processed by the EEOC's administrative review process, either separately or in combination with local human rights commissions or agencies. The EEOC generally will try to encourage a resolution between the parties through mediation. Employees who have been subjected improperly to termination are, by law, to be restored to their jobs. The Commission can sue for temporary or preliminary injunctive relief before completing its processing of a retaliation charge if the charging party or the Commission likely will suffer irreparable harm due to of the retaliation. One of the important steps to take is to document everything as thoroughly as you can, in chronological sequence, if you think you are being subjected to retaliation or to wrongful termination. by Ken B -- Writing to assist others who have experienced or are experiencing discrimination and to share with you some valuable experience. Hoodia - Your Best Weight Loss Defense
By AJ Stamp Hoodia is a weight loss supplement that is getting a lot of attention in the media. It is an all-natural weight loss extract taken from a cactus plant that is found in South Africa. Hoodia is traditionally used in Africa to treat a variety of other disorders, including hypertension, abdominal cramps, hemorrhoids, tuberculosis, indigestion, and diabetes. It has been consumed as common food by the natives of the Kalahari desert for more than a thousand years. Hoodia is very different from diet stimulants such as Ephedra and Phenfen that are now banned because of dangerous side effects. The Hoodia Cactus has been used by the bush people of South Africa for generations as a natural appetite suppresant and thirst quencher. While the Bushmen knew all about the powers of Hoodia, it was not until the 1960's that the first research was done on Hoodia as an appetite suppressant. There are various species of hoodia, but the Gordonii variation is the only one that contains the all-natural appetite suppressant. Hoodia is all-natural and must be considered safer than other appetite supplements that contain stimulants. Hoodia causes a molecule to be produced in your body that essentially tells your brain that you are full. It is more powerful than glucose in telling the brain that you are not hungry. Many doctors and scientists agree that this could be one of the best weight loss supplements to come out in years. By feeling full, you will consume less calories than you burn which will cause you to lose weight. Leading a healthy life, eating healthy food, losing weight and being fit, are very common goals for most people. Hoodia should only be considered one tool in modifying your eating habits and helping you step into a healthier lifestyle. Hoodia should not be used alone; you still need to pay close attention to your eating and exercise habits. If you stick to it for months, eat healthy, and improve your lifestyle, you should be able to lose excess weight. Hoodia is the new miracle supplement for safe, effective weight loss. Hoodia is sold in capsule, liquid, or tea form in health food stores and on the Internet. For best results, choose only products with 100 percent pure Hoodia. Penetrating Neil Strauss: a Review
By Isaac Blume Any time a secret society suddenly becomes un-secret - or is, more aptly, penetrated - there is always a mixed reaction to a world that is in equal parts intriguing and pathetic. The society of pick-up artists revealed by Neil Strauss' The Game is no different. It is a world in which AFCs (Average Frustrated Chumps) work for IOIs (Indicators Of Interest) while neutralizing AMOGs (the Alpha Male Of the Group). But buried among the acronyms and exploits of the pick-up community are some valuable insights. These days, any best-selling novel needs to have three main qualities: 1) compelling characters, 2) a gripping plotline, and 3) the ability to be instantly transformed into a Hollywood film. The Game satisfies all three. What's more, because it's a work of non-fiction, it has that same grotesque allure of a reality TV show. As for compelling characters, who could forget the obscene yet somehow endearing field report filed by Extramask, the fledgling pick-up artist, following his very first sexual experience? In it, he records his disillusionment in lurid detail, at one point realizing that he was getting no feeling and just pumping away like a tool (71). As for a gripping plotline, the book details the experience of Strauss as he immerses himself in a full-time community of pick-up artists ultimately to find he has become not only one of them, but the best of them - reinvented as Style. It deftly begins with the Project Hollywood mansion, the collective headquarters of the L.A. pick-up artists, in shambles, its tenants either crying or hiding or picking up the pieces - forcing the reader to ask, How did it all come to this? And read on. The ascent, descent, and ultimate realization of Style is also well-presented and well-paced. Indeed, after turning his back on the community and committing himself to his rock star girlfriend, our hero concludes with the realization that [b]eing together has required a lot more time and work than learning to pick up women ever did, but it has brought me far more satisfaction and joy. Perhaps that's because it's not a game (452). (And as for film-fodder, one reviewer has already pegged Jack Black and Kate Hudson for the leading roles). There are a few common criticisms of the book, but none that are all too convincing. For example, it has been said that it promotes a twisted subculture, one that will prey upon confused, adolescent males. This is kind of like how playing violent video games will turn us into serial killers, or how in the 1950s rock and roll music made everyone devil-worshippers. Sure, there will be a few to get so seduced by the idea of a full-blown seduction community that they'll sell their nice-guy souls. But let's give the rest of them a bit more credit. In addition, it has been said (by some women readers) that the book makes women the enemy. It doesn't. It's far too intelligent and self-conscious of a work to victimize an entire gender - no less the one it is at great pains to understand. If anything, it is all too revealing of the fragile and desperate and pitiful male ego. If you appreciate a deft literary hand that can mix the perfect cocktail of tragic and comic and let you knock back a damn good story, you will appreciate this book. And if you prefer true stories, you're also in luck. But perhaps what makes it a truly accomplished work is the fact that while it will inevitably be adopted as a textbook for armies of under-sexed males, it still carries a certain wisdom with regard to social dynamics in general. For example, upon realizing that women will tolerate his 'occupation' of pick-up artist and the community that supports him, but not for very long, Style finds that: All the techniques that are so effective in beginning a relationship violate every principle necessary to maintaining one (242).

When It Comes To Marketing Your Business, Think Creatively
By Tim Knox If your business doesn't stand out in today's hyper-competitive market place there's a good chance that you won't be in business very long. There are countless others vying for the same slice of the pie that you are.
There are dozens of competitors just up the road doing all they can to get the attention of your customers and take money out of your pockets.
It's called "marketing," and some are probably doing a better job of it than you are and some probably worse. What can you do to position your business as the one customers notice? The secret to effective marketing is: think creatively. Case in point: like every other struggling writer on the planet, I've written a book that I would like to see on the shelves at Barnes & Nobles.
Now I know that the only way I can get my book in front of a big time publisher is to have it submitted by an equally big time agent. And the chances of convincing a big time agent to represent me are about one in a bazillion. Most writers have a better chance of getting eaten by a shark in the Sahara than signing with an agent who gets them a big publishing deal. Being one to never let made up statistics stop me, I forged a creative marketing plan to make sure my book (my business) was noticed. First thought: what's the best way to get face time with a big time agent? I knew that the normal rules of marketing would do me no good. I couldn't run a few radio spots or buy ads in the newspaper. I had to go where the agents were; in this case a book publishing convention in Orlando, Florida. I bought my ticket, booked my plane and hotel, and waited for the time to go to Orlando and pitch my book to every agent I could find. I was prepared to pitch them standing outside a bathroom stall door if necessary (no pride here). Then it hit me: I'd probably have less than a minute to give these agents my elevator pitch. They would be swamped with every hack writer within a ten mile radius. I had to do something different. I had to market creatively. I knew that every other Tom, Dick and John Grisham would be shoving business cards and tattered manuscripts at these guys, so I opted to do something different. I created a business card CD that had my picture on the outside and my manuscript on the inside. It looked like a business card, but when they popped it in their computer it brought up a nice presentation starring the work of yours truly. Did my creative marketing work? Every agent that I gave one of my handy dandy business card CDs to said the same thing,"That's the coolest thing I've ever seen! Tell me more!" Instead of having 30 seconds to pitch them, I suddenly had their attention for five, ten, fifteen minutes. They wanted to hear more about my amazing little CD and what it contained. By marketing creatively I not only stood out from the crowd, I caught their attention; I piqued their interest, I engaged them in actual conversation instead of the fluff conversation they were saving for less creative marketers. What was the result of my creative marketing? I signed with an agent who popped the CD in his computer on the flight home and liked what he saw. Will my book ever grace the shelves of bookstores? Who knows, but when it comes out I guarantee you that I will think of all kind of creative ways to market it. P.T. Barnum was the father of creative marketing. Many people mistakenly think that Barnum's claim to fame was the circus that bears his name. Actually, Barnum got into the circus business late in life, years after he had established himself as one of the most creative marketers on the planet. Barnum's pride and joy was his American Museum in New York City. And hispassion was finding creative ways to market it. He took a young midget, dubbed him Tom Thumb and made him a national sensation. He brought a pair of Siamese twins to speak at the museum who grew famous and rich from Barnum's efforts. He had an elephant plow the field on his property because there was a railroad nearby and he knew that every passenger on the train would tell everyone they knew about seeing the elephant plowing his field. Barnum received nationwide coverage of the event and some agricultural societies even wrote to ask his advice on training elephants to farm. Barnum knew that the only way to keep his museum in business was to market creatively. How can you use creative marketing in your business? What can you do tostand out from your competition? What can you do to grab the attention of potential customers and mesmerize them with your message? Elephant farming

Miracle Healer, John of God of Brazil
By Ricardo Garza THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE from around the world diagnosed as terminal or incurable by modern medicine travel thousands of miles each month, enduring long international flights and exhausting bus rides to a small town in the mountains of central Brazil. They come to see miracle healer, Joao Teixeira de Faria, the man the people of Brazil have affectionately titled, "Joao de Deus" or "John of God". Joao is a simple man of humble beginnings who devotes three days of every week to healing his fellow man without payment for his services. As a young boy, Joao experienced blackout spells. On awakening he learned he had performed miraculous healings. Religious leaders, the medical field, the police and those in power threatened by Joaos abilities had him beaten, thrown in jail then cast out of town. This was a pattern that went on for years. Even with that, Joao still treated those who persecuted him when their own incurable illness arose. Joao frequently states, "it is not me who cures, it is God and the Son Jesus, I am simply the vessel". Joao is known as an unconscious medium; he never recalls any of the healings he's performed. Since he began 44 years ago, Joao has treated and healed millions of people. Joao will see all who come to him without stopping to rest. The poor and the famous alike stand in line, up to thousands a day. They come to witness miracles and hope to receive one of their own. For example actress Shirley Maclaine who was told by Western Medicine she would never dance again. That was until Joao removed a tumor from her stomach. Joao is acclaimed to be the greatest healer since our beloved Jesus the Christ. From curing cancer, AIDS, tumors, heart conditions, addictions, helping the lame to walk and the blind to see, Joao treats every form of illness imaginable. Many people report powerful outcomes that can be measured; X-rays before and after for example. The proof is a room at the Casa filled with thousands of discarded crutches, leg braces and wheelchairs. The two kinds of surgeries performed through Joao are visible and invisible. Visible surgeries are done with forceps, a scapel or knife. Patients experience minimal pain, bleeding or anxiety during surgery. There are no tranquilizers, pain medication or antibiotics used before, during or after surgery, and no case of infection has ever occurred throughout Joao's many years of work. Invisible surgery is performed while meditating in what is known as the Current room at the Casa. Energy is generated and brings about miraculous corrections on mental, emotional, physical and spiritual levels. With both surgeries, healing can be immediate, others recover over time, and some may require additional visits. Thousands of written testimonies and personal letters of gratitude fill the Casa office along with stacks of newspaper articles. Reports from clergymen, scientists and doctors worldwide support claims of Joao's work. Joao de Deus and his Casa de Dom Inacio Healing Sanctuary give us the opportunity to witness and experience God's love and deepen our connection with him. A place where our hope turns into faith, and faith into certainty. For the thousands who travel to Joao each month from around the world, it is a spritual awakening, a spiritual transformation, and the beginning of the end to their illness, on many levels.
